How I Spent 1 Month in Kenya

A personal journey across Kenya's most iconic landscapes — from lion prides in Masai Mara to the rhino paradise of Nairobi, and the remote wilderness of Northern Kenya's Laikipia.

In March 2025, my wife and I spent an unforgettable month in Kenya, immersing ourselves in the heart of East Africa's wilderness. It was our first long photography-focused trip together — and it became so much more than just taking pictures.

We started our journey in **Masai Mara**, where every game drive felt like a scene out of a wildlife documentary. Lions resting in the golden light, cheetahs scanning the horizon, and herds of elephants crossing the open plains — the Mara had something magical to offer every single day.

From there, we traveled to **Amboseli**, known for its majestic elephants and breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro. The dusty conditions created a cinematic atmosphere, especially at sunrise. One of the most memorable moments was watching a herd of elephants walking in single file with Kilimanjaro looming in the background — a shot I'd always hoped to capture.

We also visited **Nairobi National Park**, which quickly became one of my favorite stops — and a true **paradise for rhinos**. It's surreal to witness such rich wildlife so close to a major city. I'll be sharing a more in-depth field report on Nairobi soon, including some close encounters with both black and white rhinos.

Our final stop was **Laikipia**, a lesser-known gem that offered a slower pace and more personal moments with wildlife. It's here we spent time observing endangered species and had the space to reflect on everything we'd seen so far.

This trip was a turning point for me — not just in photography, but in the way I connect with wildlife and wild spaces. Traveling with my wife made it even more meaningful, as we experienced each magical moment together. We returned with thousands of images and even more stories — and I can't wait to share more of them with you.
